We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

When a car has reached the end of its life, it has to be depolluted at a licensed facility before it can be crushed. We arrange that for sellers in Glasgow: a firm price on WhatsApp, free collection, payment by bank transfer, and delivery to a partner facility that handles the depollution, the dismantling and the Certificate of Destruction once the car is scrapped.

Our part ends when the car leaves Glasgow and is delivered. The depollution and dismantling are the facility's, and so is the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped. Telling the DVLA you have sold the car to the motor trade is down to you. We do not sell the parts recovered from the cars we deliver. If you are still weighing up buyers, see how to choose a car scrapper.

Glasgow is roughly 105 miles down the A82 from our Fort William base, and we have no depot in the city. Collections across the city are grouped into scheduled runs, and the date is agreed when you accept the price. Tell us exactly where the car is parked, because street parking decides which truck we send. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Glasgow are on our page for Glasgow.

Dismantling, stage by stage

First the car is made safe. Every liquid that could pollute soil or water is drained and stored, and anything that could go off, like an airbag or a seat-belt pretensioner, is deployed or removed. Recovery comes next: components with a future, from alternators to tailgates, are unbolted and kept by the facility. Last is recycling, where the stripped shell is flattened and shredded and its metals sorted by magnet and separator. The facility handles its own paperwork too: when the car is scrapped, it notifies the DVLA and issues your Certificate of Destruction.

Preparing a car for dismantling

Your part in dismantling is short, and most of it happens before collection. Have photo identification ready and, if you have the V5C, check that it shows you as keeper; if it does not, or it is lost, tell us before we agree a price. If the car has a private registration you want to keep, apply to the DVLA to retain it now, because it cannot be moved once the car has been scrapped. Remove personal items, including anything in the boot and door pockets. Leave the battery and fluids alone: depollution is done at the facility. If you do take any parts off, let us know before the price is agreed. Finally, mention anything that affects loading, such as flat tyres, a seized handbrake or a tight driveway.

Unlicensed dismantling and why to avoid it

Dismantling an end-of-life car without authorisation is illegal in Scotland and England, and for good reason: drained fuel, oil and refrigerant pollute land and water, and an unmanaged battery or airbag can injure someone. It matters to you as well. Only an Authorised Treatment Facility can issue a Certificate of Destruction, and without one you have no proof the car has been destroyed, which can leave you answering for it later. So before you sell to anyone in Glasgow, ask where the car is going; if you ask us, we will tell you which licensed facility is taking yours, so you can look it up on the public register kept by SEPA or the Environment Agency.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

My car is not LEZ compliant. Can you still collect it in Glasgow?

Yes. The zone's penalties are for driving a non-compliant vehicle inside it, and a car carried on a recovery truck is not being driven. If the car is parked inside the zone, leave it where it is rather than driving it out, and tell us the street when you send the reg so the driver can plan the approach.

Where is my car dismantled if I am in Glasgow?

At a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility partner chosen for the collection route from Glasgow. Ask us which licensed facility will take your car and we will tell you. Nothing is dismantled at your address: the car leaves on a recovery vehicle exactly as it is, and the depollution and dismantling happen at that facility.

My car is leaking fluids. Can it still be collected for dismantling?

Yes. Tell us what is leaking, whether oil, coolant or fuel, when you ask for a price, so the driver comes prepared and the car is loaded safely. Do not try to drain it yourself. Leaks are dealt with properly at the facility during depollution.

Can I get parts back from my dismantled car?

No. Once we have bought the car it is ours, and it goes to the facility, which keeps the parts it recovers. If you want to keep anything, remove it before collection and tell us when you ask for a price, because it changes the figure.

Can I sell a car with a private registration for dismantling?

Yes. If you want to keep the number, ask the DVLA to put it on a retention document (V778) or move it to another vehicle before we collect, because a number left on a car that is scrapped goes with it. Tell us when you send the reg whether the plate is staying on the car.
