We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

When a car has reached the end of its life, it has to be depolluted at a licensed facility before it can be crushed. We arrange that for sellers in Paisley: a firm price on WhatsApp, free collection, payment by bank transfer, and delivery to a partner facility that handles the depollution, the dismantling and the Certificate of Destruction once the car is scrapped.

Once you accept the price, the driver checks the car and your ID, loads it at your address in Paisley, and the facility does the rest. After collection, tell the DVLA yourself that you have sold the car to the motor trade. If the car is electric, our EV and hybrid guide explains the extra steps.

Paisley is about 110 miles from our Fort William base, and jobs here share runs with Glasgow and Inverclyde, which makes Renfrewshire one of the easier areas for us to reach. Collection is still scheduled, with the date agreed when you accept the price. Tell us whether the car is on a tenement street or a driveway. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Paisley are on our local collection notes.

What happens to your car after it leaves Paisley

The car is taken from Paisley to a licensed partner facility and logged against its registration and chassis number. Depollution comes first: the 12-volt battery is removed, fuel, oils, coolant, brake fluid and air-conditioning gas are drained into sealed storage, and the airbags are made safe. Next the dismantlers take off the parts that can be reused, such as engines, gearboxes, doors, lights and wheels, and recover the catalytic converter. What remains is crushed and shredded, and the steel, aluminium and copper are separated for recycling. When the car has been scrapped, the facility notifies the DVLA and issues a Certificate of Destruction in your name.

Preparing a car for dismantling

A few details change how a car is collected and where it goes, so give them when you send the reg. Say if the car is leaking fuel, oil or coolant, if it has been in a fire or a flood, or if an airbag has gone off. Say if it is electric or hybrid, because those go to partners equipped for high-voltage batteries. Tell us about access at your address in Paisley: a narrow lane, a low garage, or a car with no wheels. Then have photo ID ready, and the V5C if you have it. Empty the car of your belongings and leave the battery and fluids alone: depollution is done at the facility.

Why a licensed facility matters

A buyer who cannot say where your car will be dismantled is a warning sign. Cars broken on driveways or at unlicensed sites are not depolluted properly and never get a Certificate of Destruction, and if the DVLA is never told of the sale, the record can still point to the seller. Protect yourself before the car goes. Make sure the buyer pays by bank transfer or another traceable method, never cash, because paying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain. Ask the buyer to name the treatment facility, and check that it appears on the public register for its area. Our guide to choosing a car scrapper covers these checks in more detail.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

Can you collect from a tenement street in Paisley town centre?

Yes, as long as the driver can stop safely and winch the car onto the truck. Tell us the street and whether the car is in a bay, a back court or a lane so the right vehicle is sent, and have any keys, and the V5C if you have it, ready at the agreed time.

Where is my car dismantled if I am in Paisley?

At a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility partner chosen for the collection route from Paisley. Ask us which licensed facility will take your car and we will tell you. Nothing is dismantled at your address: the car leaves on a recovery vehicle exactly as it is, and the depollution and dismantling happen at that facility.

Can you take a car with deployed airbags or a flat battery?

Yes. Airbags and pretensioners are made safe at the facility during depollution, and a flat battery does not matter because the car is winched onto a recovery vehicle. Tell us about deployed airbags or electrical faults so the description, and the price, match the car.

Can I get parts back from my dismantled car?

No. Once we have bought the car it is ours, and it goes to the facility, which keeps the parts it recovers. If you want to keep anything, remove it before collection and tell us when you ask for a price, because it changes the figure.

What if the V5C is not in my name?

Tell us before we agree a price, because the car has to be bought from the person entitled to sell it. The driver checks photo ID against the V5C, or against the keeper's written authority if someone else hands the car over. If you bought the car and never registered it, or the logbook still names a relative, explain and we will tell you what proof we need.
