We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

Breaking a car means taking it apart for the components that still have a use, then recycling the rest. It is often the best route for a car that is too costly to fix but still has healthy parts. We buy those cars in Paisley, collect them free and pass them to licensed partners who do the breaking.

A breaking price is only as firm as the description behind it. Tell us whether the car starts and drives, what has failed, the mileage, and anything taken off or replaced recently. Photos of each side, the interior and the engine bay help. With that, the figure we send on WhatsApp is the figure you are paid, provided the car matches when the driver sees it.

Paisley is about 110 miles from our Fort William base, and jobs here share runs with Glasgow and Inverclyde, which makes Renfrewshire one of the easier areas for us to reach. Collection is still scheduled, with the date agreed when you accept the price. Tell us whether the car is on a tenement street or a driveway. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Paisley are on our local page.

A breakers yard visit, or a collection

The cars that suit breaking are often the ones that cannot reach a yard. A seized engine or a failed gearbox means the car will not drive, and without tax and a valid MOT it could not legally be driven there even if it did. Towing needs working brakes and steering on the towed car, which a damaged car may not have. A recovery vehicle avoids all of that: it lifts the car from a drive, a garage or the kerb, as long as the truck can reach it safely, and carries it clear of the road. You never have to find a breaker willing to take the car, or wait at a gate for an offer. If you want to know which parts lift the price, read our parts-value guide.

The sale, the handover and the paperwork

Send the registration and your postcode on WhatsApp, with a few lines on the car: does it start or drive, what has failed, and is anything missing. We confirm whether we can collect and send a firm price, saying how long it stands, because metal prices move. If you accept, we agree a collection date. Once the driver has checked the car against your description and seen your photo ID, we pay by bank transfer to an account in your name. If you have the V5C, copy down its 11-digit reference and hold back the yellow slip before the logbook goes. Then tell the DVLA you sold the car to the motor trade, online with that reference or by posting the slip. Any full months of tax left are then refunded and a Direct Debit stops automatically. The licensed partner issues the Certificate of Destruction when it scraps the car.

Parts buyers: what we can and cannot do

A short note for anyone here to buy a second-hand part. We are not a parts supplier. There is no counter, no stock list and no way to reserve a component from a car we have collected, because the car passes to a licensed partner who breaks it. A breaker with a public parts service, or an online parts-locating service, is the right place to look, and it is worth checking the returns policy before you pay. Where we can help is the other side of the problem: if the part you need costs more than the car is worth to you, we can price the whole car in Paisley as it stands.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

Can you collect from a tenement street in Paisley town centre?

Yes, as long as the driver can stop safely and winch the car onto the truck. Tell us the street and whether the car is in a bay, a back court or a lane so the right vehicle is sent, and have any keys, and the V5C if you have it, ready at the agreed time.

Will a breaker still want a car that has been partly stripped?

Often, yes, if what remains is still useful: panels, glass, lights, seats or running gear. The price reflects what is missing, so list it when you send the registration. A car stripped down to a shell is priced closer to scrap, and it still goes to a licensed facility to be broken and recycled.

Can I see the car broken or keep a part afterwards?

No. Once we have collected the car, it passes to a licensed partner facility, which does the breaking and keeps what it recovers. If there is something you want to keep, such as a set of alloys or a child seat, tell us before we quote and take it off before collection.

My car is on a SORN. Can it still be sold for breaking?

Yes. A SORN only means the car must be kept off the public road, which is no obstacle when it is lifted onto a recovery vehicle from your drive or garage. Once you tell the DVLA the car has been sold to the motor trade, the SORN no longer applies to you.

Will you price my car for breaking without seeing it?

Yes. The registration tells us the make, model and engine, and your description and photos tell us what works, what has failed and what is missing. From that we send a firm price on WhatsApp, and it stands if the car matches when the driver sees it. The more exact the description, the fewer questions on the day.
