Breakers yard in Aberdeen: sell your car for breaking
A breakers yard wants the car at its gate. We come to you instead: cars for breaking are collected from addresses in Aberdeen free of charge and paid for by bank transfer to your own account.
- Any make, any condition
- Firm price in writing on WhatsApp
- No admin fees
The usual picture of a breakers yard is a drive to an industrial estate, a look round the car at the gate and a price agreed there and then. Selling to us skips the visit but keeps the idea: a breaker's price, based on what the car still has, agreed before anything moves. If your car is in Aberdeen, we buy it where it stands, and licensed partners do the breaking.
A breaking price is only as firm as the description behind it. Tell us whether the car starts and drives, what has failed, the mileage, and anything taken off or replaced recently. Photos of each side, the interior and the engine bay help. With that, the figure we send on WhatsApp is the figure you are paid, provided the car matches when the driver sees it.
Aberdeen is the furthest Scottish city we cover, about 160 miles from our Fort William base. Jobs in the city and nearby Aberdeenshire are grouped into scheduled runs, so the wait is longer than in the central belt. We agree the collection date when you accept the price, and the car can stay where it is until then. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Aberdeen are on our local page.
Looking for a breakers yard near Aberdeen?
Count what a trip to a breakers yard really involves. Someone has to drive the car there, which needs tax, insurance and a valid MOT, or tow it, which needs a second person to steer, or put it on a trailer. Someone has to get home again afterwards. And the price is only settled once you are at the gate, when turning round is the last thing you want to do. Selling by collection moves all of that onto us and puts the price first. The figure is agreed on WhatsApp from your description and photos before anything moves, collection is free, and the car goes from your address to a licensed partner for breaking. For how each part affects the figure, see what makes a car worth more in parts.
What to expect when you sell a car for breaking
Before collection, have your photo ID, the V5C if you have it, and details of a bank account in your name. Clear out the cabin and boot, and retain any private plate through the DVLA first. Leave the parts fitted unless you told us you would remove them: a car described with its wheels and catalytic converter should still have them when the truck arrives. Before the logbook goes, note its 11-digit reference and tear off the yellow V5C/3 slip. Tell the DVLA about the sale online with that reference, keeping the slip with your records, or fill in the slip and post it. With no V5C, write to the DVLA with your name and address, the registration, make and model, the date of sale and our name and address. Once the DVLA knows, any full months of tax left are refunded automatically.

A short note for anyone here to buy a second-hand part. We are not a parts supplier. There is no counter, no stock list and no way to reserve a component from a car we have collected, because the car passes to a licensed partner who breaks it. A breaker with a public parts service, or an online parts-locating service, is the right place to look, and it is worth checking the returns policy before you pay. Where we can help is the other side of the problem: if the part you need costs more than the car is worth to you, we can price the whole car in Aberdeen as it stands.

Learn moreQuestions people ask us
Do you collect from Dyce and Bridge of Don, or just the centre?
We cover the whole city, including Dyce, Bridge of Don, Cove Bay, Kincorth and Torry, and Portlethen to the south. Aberdeenshire towns such as Westhill, Stonehaven or Inverurie may be on a run too: send the postcode with the reg and we will confirm on WhatsApp whether we can collect.
Does my car need to be complete to be sold for breaking?
No. A breaker will still take a car with parts missing, but the price is set on what is left, so tell us exactly what has gone before we quote. A car with its engine, gearbox, wheels and catalytic converter in place usually has more to offer than one that has been stripped.
Does a car sold for breaking still get a Certificate of Destruction?
Yes. A car broken for parts at an Authorised Treatment Facility is still an end-of-life vehicle, so when it is scrapped the facility issues the Certificate of Destruction and notifies the DVLA. Breaking is simply the first stage: the useful parts come off, and the rest is then sent for recycling.
My car still drives. Should I take it to a breaker myself?
You can, if it is taxed, insured and has a valid MOT, and there is a breaker willing to price it when you arrive. The catch is that the offer comes at the gate, after the trip. With collection you have a firm figure before anything moves, and the journey is already allowed for in the price we quote.
My car is at a garage that cannot fix it. Can you collect it from there?
Yes, if the garage agrees to release it. Give us the garage address as the collection point, tell us what they found wrong and whether anything was removed during diagnosis, and let the garage know the date once it is agreed. Settle anything you owe them first, so the car can be released on the day.
