We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

A full electric car, a plug-in hybrid or a conventional hybrid: all three carry a high-voltage battery, and all three need careful handling at the end of their lives. We buy them from sellers in Aberdeen, collect them free on a recovery vehicle and pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.

The collection itself asks little of you: a recovery vehicle takes the car away as it is. The careful work happens later, at a partner facility where the high-voltage system is made safe before anything else is touched. We buy the car; we do not sell batteries or parts.

Aberdeen is the furthest Scottish city we cover, about 160 miles from our Fort William base. Jobs in the city and nearby Aberdeenshire are grouped into scheduled runs, so the wait is longer than in the central belt. We agree the collection date when you accept the price, and the car can stay where it is until then. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Aberdeen are on our local collection notes.

Preparing an EV or hybrid in Aberdeen for collection

An electric car needs a little more preparation than a petrol one. Start with the 12-volt battery: many EVs will not release the parking brake or go into neutral without it, so tell us if it is flat. Then the charging cables: leave any that came with the car in the boot and tell us if they are missing. Keep every key or key card together, including spares. Finally, do not try to charge a car with a damaged pack, and keep it parked outdoors in Aberdeen, away from buildings, until it has been collected.

Where the battery goes after collection

A traction battery runs at several hundred volts and stores enough energy to injure someone or start a fire if handled carelessly, so the order of work matters. First the high-voltage circuit is isolated by someone trained to do it. Then the pack is lifted out as a unit and checked. Only after that does the ordinary dismantling begin, from draining coolant and brake fluid to removing reusable parts. Batteries are recycled or, where they still hold charge well, assessed for reuse. We do not sell packs, modules or motors, and neither the battery nor the car is taken apart by the driver or on your property.

How an EV or hybrid is priced

When you ask for a price, the details that move it most are about the battery. What range was the car managing before it stopped? Has the dashboard shown a battery or charging fault? Has the car been in water, a fire or an impact to the underside, where the pack sits? After that come the ordinary factors: make, model, age, mileage, condition, and how far the car is from our collection routes. The week's metal prices play a part as well. Send clear photos and the registration, and we will reply with a firm figure that reflects the car you describe.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

How long will I wait for collection in Aberdeen?

Longer than in the central belt. We schedule Aberdeen collections in batches and agree the date when you accept the price. The car can stay where it is until then. If it is parked on a public road, it must stay taxed, insured and, if it needs one, covered by a valid MOT until the driver arrives. If it cannot, keep it off the road and declare it SORN.

Can you collect an EV with a flat 12-volt battery from a garage or car park?

Usually, yes, but tell us exactly where it is. A flat 12-volt battery can stop the car going into neutral, and a car that cannot roll is harder to recover from a tight space. Height barriers in multi-storey and underground car parks matter too, so give us the level, any posted entrance height and who can open the barrier.

My electric car was in a flood. Can you still collect it?

Yes, but tell us before we quote. Water can damage the battery pack and its wiring, and a flooded pack can fail without warning, so the car must not be charged or switched on. We plan the collection with that in mind and route the car to a facility that can assess the pack safely.

What should come with an electric car when it is collected?

Photo identification, the V5C logbook if you have it, any keys or key cards you have, and any charging cables supplied with the car. Leave the cables in the boot so they travel with it. Wipe your details from the screen before the driver arrives, so saved addresses and paired phones do not go with the car.

Does a missing charging cable or key card change the price?

It can, so tell us when you ask for a price. Cables and key cards supplied with the car go with it to the facility, and the figure is based on the car as you describe it. If they turn up later, let us know before collection. A wall-mounted home charger is not part of the car and stays with you.
