We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

When a car has reached the end of its life, it has to be depolluted at a licensed facility before it can be crushed. We arrange that for sellers in Aberdeen: a firm price on WhatsApp, free collection, payment by bank transfer, and delivery to a partner facility that handles the depollution, the dismantling and the Certificate of Destruction once the car is scrapped.

We buy the car and handle the collection from Aberdeen; the dismantling itself is done by a licensed partner facility. Before you hand the driver the V5C, tear off the yellow V5C/3 slip. You then tell the DVLA you have sold the car to the motor trade, either online with the V5C reference number or by filling in the slip and posting it. If you tell the DVLA online, keep the slip with your records. We do not sell the parts the facility recovers.

Aberdeen is the furthest Scottish city we cover, about 160 miles from our Fort William base. Jobs in the city and nearby Aberdeenshire are grouped into scheduled runs, so the wait is longer than in the central belt. We agree the collection date when you accept the price, and the car can stay where it is until then. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Aberdeen are on our page for Aberdeen.

Dismantling, stage by stage

Here, in brief, is what happens once the recovery truck pulls away from Aberdeen. At the facility the car is booked in and checked against the details recorded at collection. Trained staff drain its fuel, oil, coolant and refrigerant and remove the battery, tyres and airbags. Parts worth reusing are taken off and stored. The bare shell goes to a shredder, which reduces it to small pieces so that ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be separated and recycled. The facility, not us, records the car as destroyed with the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.

Preparing a car for dismantling

Your part in dismantling is short, and most of it happens before collection. Have photo identification ready and, if you have the V5C, check that it shows you as keeper; if it does not, or it is lost, tell us before we agree a price. If the car has a private registration you want to keep, apply to the DVLA to retain it now, because it cannot be moved once the car has been scrapped. Remove personal items, including anything in the boot and door pockets. Leave the battery and fluids alone: depollution is done at the facility. If you do take any parts off, let us know before the price is agreed. Finally, mention anything that affects loading, such as flat tyres, a seized handbrake or a tight driveway.

Why a licensed facility matters

A buyer who cannot say where your car will be dismantled is a warning sign. Cars broken on driveways or at unlicensed sites are not depolluted properly and never get a Certificate of Destruction, and if the DVLA is never told of the sale, the record can still point to the seller. Protect yourself before the car goes. Make sure the buyer pays by bank transfer or another traceable method, never cash, because paying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain. Ask the buyer to name the treatment facility, and check that it appears on the public register for its area. Our guide to choosing a car scrapper covers these checks in more detail.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

Do you collect from Dyce and Bridge of Don, or just the centre?

We cover the whole city, including Dyce, Bridge of Don, Cove Bay, Kincorth and Torry, and Portlethen to the south. Aberdeenshire towns such as Westhill, Stonehaven or Inverurie may be on a run too: send the postcode with the reg and we will confirm on WhatsApp whether we can collect.

Where is my car dismantled if I am in Aberdeen?

At a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility partner chosen for the collection route from Aberdeen. Ask us which licensed facility will take your car and we will tell you. Nothing is dismantled at your address: the car leaves on a recovery vehicle exactly as it is, and the depollution and dismantling happen at that facility.

My car is leaking fluids. Can it still be collected for dismantling?

Yes. Tell us what is leaking, whether oil, coolant or fuel, when you ask for a price, so the driver comes prepared and the car is loaded safely. Do not try to drain it yourself. Leaks are dealt with properly at the facility during depollution.

Does the car need to be complete for dismantling?

No. We buy incomplete cars too, from shells missing their engine to cars without wheels. The price follows what is there, so tell us exactly what has been removed. A car on no wheels needs different loading, so say so when you send the reg.

What paperwork do I need to have a car dismantled?

Photo ID and, if you have it, the V5C logbook; the driver checks both. Tear off the yellow V5C/3 slip before handing the logbook over, then tell the DVLA you sold the car to the motor trade: online with the V5C reference number (keep the slip with your records), or by posting the slip. If the V5C is lost or names someone else, tell us before we agree a price.
