We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

Every breaking decision comes down to one question: are the parts worth more than the metal? For a common model with a healthy engine, the answer is often yes. Tell us about the car at your Aberdeen address and we will price it on its reusable parts, arrange free collection and pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.

A running engine or a gearbox that shifts cleanly can lift the figure above what the metal alone would fetch. We do not sell parts: the breaking is done by licensed partners. If your priority is getting rid of the car rather than its parts value, our guide to breakers yards explains the difference.

Aberdeen is the furthest Scottish city we cover, about 160 miles from our Fort William base. Jobs in the city and nearby Aberdeenshire are grouped into scheduled runs, so the wait is longer than in the central belt. We agree the collection date when you accept the price, and the car can stay where it is until then. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Aberdeen are on our Aberdeen collection page.

What decides a parts price for a car in Aberdeen

The drivetrain carries the most value when it is healthy and the least when it is seized or unproven: the engine, the gearbox and, on some cars, the turbo. The body comes next. Doors, bonnet, tailgate and wings that are straight and in a common colour can go onto another car with little work. After that comes everything that bolts on or plugs in, from alloy wheels and headlamp units to seats, dashboards and electronic modules. We weigh all of it against demand for that model, then allow for the distance and access for collection in Aberdeen and the metal value of what is left.

Getting a car ready for breaking

Have photo ID ready, and the V5C if you have it; if it is lost, tell us before we quote. If you cannot be there yourself, a nominated adult can hand the car over with their own photo ID and your written authority. Missing keys are fine, but they can change the price and the recovery vehicle we send, so mention them when you ask for a price. Leave the parts we priced on the car: if the wheels, battery or catalytic converter disappear before collection, the figure has to change. Empty the boot, the glovebox and the space under the seats. To keep a private registration, apply to the DVLA to retain it before you sell. And if the car is on a drive or in a garage in Aberdeen, warn us about tight access or flat tyres.

Cars that are worth about the same either way

A common model does not guarantee a parts premium. Picture a family hatchback that has covered a very high mileage: the engine burns oil, the gearbox whines and the clutch is near its end. The model itself is common, but the parts its owners need are the ones this car has worn out. What remains, such as doors, lights and interior trim, adds something, though often not enough to lift the figure far above scrap. We will tell you plainly when that is the case. Send the reg with the mileage and the faults you know about, and the quote will show which way the car leans.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

How long will I wait for collection in Aberdeen?

Longer than in the central belt. We schedule Aberdeen collections in batches and agree the date when you accept the price. The car can stay where it is until then. If it is parked on a public road, it must stay taxed, insured and, if it needs one, covered by a valid MOT until the driver arrives. If it cannot, keep it off the road and declare it SORN.

Does a car need to run to be worth breaking?

No, but it helps. A car that starts and drives shows the engine and gearbox are healthy, which adds most value. A non-runner can still be worth more than scrap if its panels, interior, wheels and catalytic converter are good. The driver brings a recovery vehicle either way.

Why might two similar cars get different parts prices?

Because the price follows what can be reused. The same model can differ in mileage, in which parts work, in where the damage is, in whether the catalytic converter is present and in whether the wheels are original alloys. Each of those changes the parts value, even when the two cars weigh the same.

Can I buy a part from a car you collect?

No. We buy vehicles and do not sell parts, so we cannot reserve or supply a component. The licensed facility that breaks the car handles the parts. For a used part, a breaker that publishes its stock is the better place to ask.

Will you buy a car for parts if it has no MOT or tax?

Yes. A car sold for breaking travels on a recovery vehicle, so it does not need an MOT or tax to be collected. What matters for the price is what it holds: a test failure for corrosion or worn suspension can leave a perfectly reusable engine and gearbox. Tell us why it failed when you ask for a quote.
