Non-runners
Dead engine, seized gearbox, a battery that has been flat for months. The car is collected on a recovery vehicle, so it does not need to start or move under its own power.
MOT failures
When the repair bill is more than the car is worth, sell it instead. You do not need an MOT to sell or scrap a car, and it leaves on a recovery vehicle, so it never has to be driven. Until then, a car without an MOT should be kept off the public road and declared SORN.

We do not publish a price list because every car is different. These are the five things that move the number, so you know exactly what you are being paid for.
- Weight
Scrap value starts with the metal. A heavy estate or 4x4 carries more steel and aluminium than a small hatchback, so it is worth more as scrap.
- Make and model
Cars with sought-after engines, gearboxes or panels can be worth more than their weight, because those parts are reused rather than shredded.
- Condition and completeness
A complete car with its catalytic converter, battery and wheels prices higher than one that has been stripped. Non-runners are fine; missing parts change the figure.
- Distance and access
There is no collection charge. How far the car is from our routes, and whether it needs a winch or a smaller truck, are built into the price we quote, so the figure we agree is the figure you are paid.

How do I get a price for my car?
Send your registration and postcode on WhatsApp, with a line about the condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. You can also use the quote form on this page. We reply with one firm price, not a range, and there is no obligation to accept it.
How do you pay?
By bank transfer to an account in your name, never in cash. Paying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal across Great Britain, so a buyer who pays cash is breaking the law. Before any payment is made, the driver checks the car against your description and sees your photo ID.
Is collection really free?
Yes. There is no collection charge, whether the car runs or not. Distance is one of the things that sets the price, so the figure we quote already allows for the journey, and the figure we agree is the figure you are paid. Mention tight spots, locked gates or missing wheels so we send the right vehicle.
Do I need the V5C logbook?
It helps, but it is not essential. If you have it, note its 11-digit reference, then the driver takes the main document and you keep the yellow V5C/3 slip for telling the DVLA about the sale. If the V5C is lost, you can still sell with photo ID and proof the car is yours, such as a purchase receipt, and you write to the DVLA instead of telling them online.
Will the DVLA be told the car has been scrapped?
Yes. The licensed Authorised Treatment Facility that takes the car notifies the DVLA and issues a Certificate of Destruction once it has been scrapped. You must also tell the DVLA yourself that you have sold the car to the motor trade, online with the 11-digit reference on your V5C or by posting its yellow slip. GOV.UK says you can be fined if you do not.

Across Scotland and England. Our only base is in Fort William, in the Highlands, so we collect rather than asking you to deliver. Send your postcode with the reg on WhatsApp and we confirm whether we can collect and how the date works for your area. Many towns also have their own collection pages.
Do you buy vans and non-runners?
Yes to both. We buy cars, vans and light commercials up to 3.5 tonnes in any condition: MOT failures, accident damage, engine or gearbox failure, flood damage and cars that have sat for years. Missing keys are fine too, but they can change the price, so tell us when you ask for one. More on selling a car that will not start.
My car is damaged or written off. Is it priced as salvage or as scrap?
That depends on what can still be used. If the engine, gearbox, panels or interior are worth recovering, the price counts those parts as well as the metal. A car too badly damaged for that is valued mostly on its weight. Tell us the write-off category if it has one, and read how we price damaged and written-off cars.
Can the price change when the driver arrives?
Only if the car is not what you described, for example the catalytic converter or engine is missing, or it turns out to be a different vehicle. If that happens the driver explains why before anything is loaded and you are free to say no. A car that matches its description gets the price we quoted.
