We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

Dismantling an end-of-life car legally needs an authorised site, trained staff and proper handling of every fluid, which is why it cannot be done on a driveway. Our part is to buy the car from you in Walsall, collect it on a recovery vehicle at no charge and take it to a facility authorised to do the work.

Our part ends when the car leaves Walsall and is delivered. The depollution and dismantling are the facility's, and so is the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped. Telling the DVLA you have sold the car to the motor trade is down to you. We do not sell the parts recovered from the cars we deliver. If you are still weighing up buyers, see how to choose a car scrapper.

Walsall is nearly 400 miles from our Fort William base, so collections here are grouped into scheduled Midlands runs that come round less often than our Scottish ones. You know the collection date before you commit, because we agree it when you accept the price. Terraced streets are fine: the driver loads from the kerb. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Walsall are on our local page.

Inside a licensed treatment facility

Here, in brief, is what happens once the recovery truck pulls away from Walsall. At the facility the car is booked in and checked against the details recorded at collection. Trained staff drain its fuel, oil, coolant and refrigerant and remove the battery, tyres and airbags. Parts worth reusing are taken off and stored. The bare shell goes to a shredder, which reduces it to small pieces so that ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be separated and recycled. The facility, not us, records the car as destroyed with the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.

Before the driver arrives in Walsall

The driver's job at your address is to check and load, not to dismantle, so the car should be left as it is. What helps is information. Is the car complete, or have the engine, wheels or catalytic converter been taken off? Does it leak? Is it electric or hybrid? Can a recovery vehicle reach it from the road? Answering those when you ask for a price keeps the figure accurate and the collection straightforward. If the car is in a garage, a shared car park or behind a locked gate in Walsall, tell us how to reach it and who holds the key.

Unlicensed dismantling and why to avoid it

The certificate is the reason the destination matters. A Certificate of Destruction shows that your car was treated and destroyed legally, and only an Authorised Treatment Facility can issue one. A yard without that authorisation cannot, however convincing its paperwork looks. The facilities we use are licensed partners, and we will name the one taking your car from Walsall if you ask. When the certificate arrives, keep it with the DVLA's confirmation that you sold the car to the motor trade and a note of the price and the collection date. Together they answer any later question about the car.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

Can you collect from a terraced street with no driveway in Walsall?

Yes. The driver loads from the kerb, so a clear stretch of road in front of or near the car is all that is needed. If the street is one way or very narrow, tell us when you book so the right truck is sent and the driver knows what to expect.

How can I check the dismantling facility is licensed?

Ask us which licensed facility will take your car and we will tell you. Then search for it on the public register: SEPA's for sites in Scotland, the Environment Agency's for sites in England. An authorised treatment facility will be listed there. If a buyer cannot tell you where a car is going, do not sell to them.

Should I remove the battery or drain the fuel before collection?

No. Depollution is the facility's job and is done under controlled conditions. Draining fuel or oil at home creates a fire and pollution risk, and disposing of it safely becomes your problem. Leave the car as it is and tell us about anything leaking or damaged.

Can I get parts back from my dismantled car?

No. Once we have bought the car it is ours, and it goes to the facility, which keeps the parts it recovers. If you want to keep anything, remove it before collection and tell us when you ask for a price, because it changes the figure.

What paperwork do I need to have a car dismantled?

Photo ID and, if you have it, the V5C logbook; the driver checks both. Tear off the yellow V5C/3 slip before handing the logbook over, then tell the DVLA you sold the car to the motor trade: online with the V5C reference number (keep the slip with your records), or by posting the slip. If the V5C is lost or names someone else, tell us before we agree a price.
