We use these details to price your car and arrange collection, never for marketing. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Free collectionNo collection charge, whether the car starts or not.
Bank transfer, never cashPaying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain, under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 in Scotland. We pay by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Paperwork explainedYou tell the DVLA you have sold it to the motor trade, and any full months left on the vehicle tax are then refunded automatically. The licensed treatment facility notifies the DVLA and issues the Certificate of Destruction when the car is scrapped.
Recycled properlyScrapped cars are drained of fluids, stripped of reusable parts and recycled at permitted treatment facilities.

When a car has reached the end of its life, it has to be depolluted at a licensed facility before it can be crushed. We arrange that for sellers in Crewe: a firm price on WhatsApp, free collection, payment by bank transfer, and delivery to a partner facility that handles the depollution, the dismantling and the Certificate of Destruction once the car is scrapped.

Once you accept the price, the driver checks the car and your ID, loads it at your address in Crewe, and the facility does the rest. After collection, tell the DVLA yourself that you have sold the car to the motor trade. If the car is electric, our EV and hybrid guide explains the extra steps.

Crewe is about 330 miles from our Fort William base. Collections here share scheduled runs with Walsall and Atherton, which come round less often than our Scottish ones, so we agree the date when you accept the price. A car can be collected from a driveway, a terraced street or a garage that has agreed to it. Postcodes, districts and how collection runs in Crewe are on our Crewe collection page.

Inside a licensed treatment facility

The car is taken from Crewe to a licensed partner facility and logged against its registration and chassis number. Depollution comes first: the 12-volt battery is removed, fuel, oils, coolant, brake fluid and air-conditioning gas are drained into sealed storage, and the airbags are made safe. Next the dismantlers take off the parts that can be reused, such as engines, gearboxes, doors, lights and wheels, and recover the catalytic converter. What remains is crushed and shredded, and the steel, aluminium and copper are separated for recycling. When the car has been scrapped, the facility notifies the DVLA and issues a Certificate of Destruction in your name.

Before the driver arrives in Crewe

The driver's job at your address is to check and load, not to dismantle, so the car should be left as it is. What helps is information. Is the car complete, or have the engine, wheels or catalytic converter been taken off? Does it leak? Is it electric or hybrid? Can a recovery vehicle reach it from the road? Answering those when you ask for a price keeps the figure accurate and the collection straightforward. If the car is in a garage, a shared car park or behind a locked gate in Crewe, tell us how to reach it and who holds the key.

How to tell a car is going to the right place

A buyer who cannot say where your car will be dismantled is a warning sign. Cars broken on driveways or at unlicensed sites are not depolluted properly and never get a Certificate of Destruction, and if the DVLA is never told of the sale, the record can still point to the seller. Protect yourself before the car goes. Make sure the buyer pays by bank transfer or another traceable method, never cash, because paying cash for scrap vehicles is illegal in Great Britain. Ask the buyer to name the treatment facility, and check that it appears on the public register for its area. Our guide to choosing a car scrapper covers these checks in more detail.

Three steps. One WhatsApp message.

You never fill in a long form or wait on hold. Send the reg, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Send your reg on WhatsApp

Message us your registration and postcode, with a line on condition and a photo or two if the car is damaged. Or use the quote form, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in.

  2. 2

    Get a firm price

We price on weight, make and model, condition and completeness, demand for its parts, distance and that week's metal prices, then reply with one figure. No range, and no haggling on the doorstep if the car is as described.

  3. 3

    Collected and paid

We agree a collection date. The driver checks the car against your description and sees your ID, and you are paid by bank transfer.

Questions people ask us

My car is on a narrow terraced street near Crewe station. Can you get a truck in?

Normally yes. The driver loads from the road, so a clear stretch of kerb is what matters. If parking is very tight and the car is taxed, insured and has a valid MOT, moving it to a wider road beforehand saves everyone time. If it is not road legal, do not drive it, even a short way: the driver will winch it from the nearest safe point.

Where is my car dismantled if I am in Crewe?

At a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility partner chosen for the collection route from Crewe. Ask us which licensed facility will take your car and we will tell you. Nothing is dismantled at your address: the car leaves on a recovery vehicle exactly as it is, and the depollution and dismantling happen at that facility.

My car is leaking fluids. Can it still be collected for dismantling?

Yes. Tell us what is leaking, whether oil, coolant or fuel, when you ask for a price, so the driver comes prepared and the car is loaded safely. Do not try to drain it yourself. Leaks are dealt with properly at the facility during depollution.

Does the car need to be complete for dismantling?

No. We buy incomplete cars too, from shells missing their engine to cars without wheels. The price follows what is there, so tell us exactly what has been removed. A car on no wheels needs different loading, so say so when you send the reg.

What paperwork do I need to have a car dismantled?

Photo ID and, if you have it, the V5C logbook; the driver checks both. Tear off the yellow V5C/3 slip before handing the logbook over, then tell the DVLA you sold the car to the motor trade: online with the V5C reference number (keep the slip with your records), or by posting the slip. If the V5C is lost or names someone else, tell us before we agree a price.
